If I may give you a good piece of advice, I would say that Marbella is very nice yet dispersive. To avoid running around aimlessly, you’d better follow my advice. If you are looking for the authentic Spain or Andalusia, this is not the right place, as it is very touristy. I am telling you because I have stayed a couple of days in Malaga, and it’s there that I’ve found the true Andalusian spirit.
There are beautiful beaches (with an entrance fee) that I guarantee you will love.
You must not miss the old town, called “Casco Antiguo”, with the ancient Arabic city walls. Plaza de los Naranjos has the most beautiful buildings of the city and it is named after the orange trees its square is full of. The mosque of king Abdelaziz with its Arabic-Andalusian architecture is a must-see. The castle walls are well preserved but not a big deal, while an interesting baroque-style church is the Iglesia de Nuestra Senora de la Encarnacion, close to the square. If you like contemporary art, do not miss the Grabado Espanol museum, with Picasso, Dalì and Mirò artwork. Obviously, with a 40°C temperature, a nice beach would be preferable.
If you do not want to rent a car, buses are a good option as they are fast and on time, or taxis. I found an app like Uber but cheaper here: Cabify. It is generally cheaper but it’s good to check prices on Uber as well, as prices tend to be higher when the demand goes up.
